Enjoy a Unique Mountain Holiday at Graubunden’s St. Moritz Region

St. Moritz is more than just a holiday resort. It was also the birthplace of Alpine winter tourism (in 1864) and has twice hosted the Winter Olympics. Nevertheless, St. Moritz first became famous thanks to its mineral springs, which were discovered 3,000 years ago and established the town as a summer spa resort early on.

What to do:

Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz-Celerina

The Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz-Celerina is situated at 1’800 m above sea level and is not only the oldest bobsleigh run but also the only natural ice rink in the world. Every year South Tyrolean track workers recreate the run within three weeks. They model the run exclusively by hand and thus without the use of large machines. For more than 130 years now, this 1’722-meter-long ice sculpture in the middle of pure nature has been inspiring athletes, fans, spectators and vacationers. In its history, the bobsleigh run has already hosted two Winter Olympics and 24 World Championships.

Toboggan run Muottas Muragl-Punt Muragl

There’s a crunch in the air between the over-sugared pine and larch trees, and the crunch comes from breaking manoeuvres when it gets really tight in a curve. Then it’s time to lift the sled snout, drill the ends of the runners into the snow, and start again to build up speed for the long straights. The region’s most racy of all toboggan runs has 20 curves, is 4.2 kilometres long, and covers 718 metres of altitude difference. And at the bottom, there’s only one thing you want to do: go up again and experience this thrill of speed for a second time.
