Macau’s First Rooftop Skatepark Debuts at Studio City
Studio City, a premier integrated resort in Macau, unveiled its latest attraction on Saturday: the Studio City Sk8te Park. This innovative facility, situated on the resort’s rooftop, holds the distinction of being Macau’s first rooftop skatepark. Designed by Hurricane Parks, renowned for constructing Olympic-level sports venues and world-class championship facilities, the park caters to enthusiasts of skateboarding, BMX freestyle, scooters, and inline skating. It boasts a variety of both street and park obstacles, providing a versatile environment for action sports aficionados.
A standout feature of the Sk8te Park is its distinctive “8”-shaped dual bowl, inspired by Studio City’s iconic Golden Reel. This design not only pays homage to the resort’s emblematic figure-eight Ferris wheel but also serves as the largest skate bowl in Macau, offering a unique challenge for skaters of all levels.
To commemorate the park’s inauguration, Studio City hosted the inaugural “Studio City Sk8Fest” over the weekend. The festival featured an array of activities, including performances by Japanese professional skater Kai Kishi and award-winning young local skateboarder Nathaniel Wong. Attendees were also treated to dynamic breakdancing displays and had the opportunity to participate in a Skate Clinic, aimed at honing their skills under expert guidance.

In conjunction with Sk8Fest, the resort organised the “Melco Style Presents: 2025 FISE Battle of the Champions.” This event marked the first international skateboarding competition in the Greater Bay Area, focusing on street skating disciplines. Both FISE and Sk8Fest attracted skaters from around the globe, underscoring Macau’s growing prominence in the international action sports arena.
Kevin Benning, Senior Vice President and Property General Manager of Studio City, expressed his enthusiasm for the new venture, stating, “By bringing world-class sports facilities and major international sporting events to Macau, we aim to strengthen the city as a ‘City of Sports’ and further reinforce Macau’s positioning as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure while offering both locals and tourists more diverse entertainment experiences.”
The introduction of the Sk8te Park aligns with Macau’s broader strategy to diversify its tourism offerings and promote a more active lifestyle among its residents and visitors. By integrating such dynamic facilities, Studio City not only enhances its own portfolio of attractions but also contributes to the city’s evolving identity as a hub for both leisure and competitive sports
As the Sk8te Park opens its ramps to the public, it stands as a testament to Macau’s commitment to embracing contemporary recreational trends and fostering a vibrant, inclusive community for action sports enthusiasts.
