Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Brings Back Dinosaurs in Real Life

This May, Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay will transport visitors back to the prehistoric era with the launch of “Jurassic World: The Experience.” Opening on 29 May 2025, this immersive exhibition will be housed within the Cloud Forest conservatory, offering an unparalleled adventure among life-sized animatronic dinosaurs set amidst lush, ancient flora.

Upon entering the Cloud Forest, guests will be greeted by a towering 8.5-metre-tall Brachiosaurus, nearly three storeys high, setting the stage for the thrilling journey ahead. The exhibition features various thematic zones designed to captivate visitors of all ages. Highlights include an up-close encounter with the formidable Tyrannosaurus rex and an interactive petting zoo area where visitors can engage with baby dinosaurs, offering a hands-on experience that brings these ancient creatures to life.

A unique aspect of this exhibition is the Evolution Walk, an educational trail that delves into prehistoric ecosystems and the evolution of plant species over millions of years. This feature showcases how ancient flora has shaped our planet, providing insights into the fascinating ways plants have evolved since the Jurassic period.

The Cloud Forest itself is an ideal setting for this exhibition. Replicating the cool-moist climate found in tropical montane regions between 1,000 and 3,500 metres above sea level, it houses over 72,000 plants, including more than 50 species with lineages dating back to the Jurassic period, such as ferns, cycads, and conifers. These plants once thrived alongside dinosaurs and even served as their food sources, enhancing the authenticity of the experience.

Felix Loh, CEO of Gardens by the Bay, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming exhibition, stating, “Following the highly successful Avatar: The Experience in 2023, Cloud Forest will once again play host to another immersive blockbuster show as part of Gardens by the Bay’s SG60 offerings.” He highlighted that visitors would not only be captivated by life-sized dinosaurs roaming the mist-shrouded landscape but also gain educational insights into prehistoric ecosystems and plant evolution.

Ron Tan, Executive Chairman and Group CEO of NEON, the company co-presenting the exhibition with Universal Live Entertainment, emphasised the seamless integration of cinematic storytelling with the natural beauty of the Cloud Forest. He noted that this collaboration aims to create a unique and memorable journey for all visitors, blending the magic of the Jurassic World film franchise with the conservatory’s stunning environment.

Tickets for “Jurassic World: The Experience” will be available for purchase through various platforms, including Klook, Fever, Pelago, and KKday. Admission charges to the Cloud Forest apply, with ticket prices to be announced in May.

Visitors are encouraged to plan their visit in advance to fully immerse themselves in this prehistoric adventure. With its combination of life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, interactive exhibits, and educational components, “Jurassic World: The Experience” promises to be a highlight for both dinosaur enthusiasts and families seeking an engaging outing. The exhibition not only brings the wonder of the Jurassic era to life but also offers a deeper understanding of the ancient world and its lasting impact on our planet.
