Elevating Malaysia’s Food and Beverage Industry with Malaysia’s Top 30 Award

The food and beverage industry in Malaysia was badly hit during the pandemic and as the world eases and phases through the endemic, it was time for the industry as a whole to reignite its past years of offering unique and distinctive experiences to consumers.

Malaysia’s Top 30 was formalised to elevate the food and beverage industry altogether, along with its key business partners in the industry to assist outlet operators in marketing their outlets at this annual award event. The first in a series is the Malaysia’s Top 30 Bars Award, recognising the top bars in Malaysia for the year 2022 – including identifying, for the very first time, the top beer bar in Malaysia.

“We are celebrating the country’s top cocktail and beer bars along with bartenders as a platform to raise the standards and recognise the bar and beverage services in the country. This will also gain prominence in the local and international markets in providing Malaysian bars and bartending talents an opportunity,” said Mr Alvin Sinclair, founder of Malaysia’s Top 30 award program.

For the inaugural event, Malaysia’s Top 30 Bar Awards is presented by Chivas Regal with other partners including Martell, Jameson, Heineken, Guinness, Absolut, Beefeater, The Glenlivet, Lillet, GH Mumm, Perrier, Monin, Fiji Water and Umai.

The 2022 award program will kick off with the nominations of 220 bars listed throughout Semenanjung Malaysia. It will then be shortlisted to 100 bars, after which a group of industry-selected juries will evaluate the bars to make the final cut of 50 – before the full list of Top 30 bars is presented at the final gala award end of the year.

Alvin added, “One of the ideas of Malaysia’s Top 30 Bar Awards is to create a continuity right after the awards. For example, we created the cocktail series whereby all 30 bars will participate in this campaign to create the Top 30 best cocktails in Malaysia, along with best beer bars by our beer partners which will be showcased next year. We will also have multiple Whiskey Masterclasses too and towards the end to celebrate this amazing achievement we have the Main Gala Night. We also would like to raise funds for our charity partner, Yayasan Chow Kit. The aim is to Raise RM15,000.”

The key benefits for outlets to participate in this program includes marketing benefits, bars will be published in the annual print magazine that is distributed to 100 different locations including hotels café, bars and restaurants. Malaysia’s Top 30 is also partnering with Bar World of Tomorrow whereby 2 bartenders from each establishment get free training.

At the event launch, Malaysia’s Top 30 also revealed its next series of Malaysia’s Top 30 Food & Drink Awards Sabah and Sarawak edition where Mr Jude Benjamin Lisa has been appointed as the chairman organiser. The series in East Malaysia will each partner with leading media titles namely Borneo Talk (Sarawak’s Edition) and Breeze (Sabah’s Edition) and is expected to kick off in October onwards.
