MOTAC to celebrate Tourism Workers Day 2026 with nationwide Water Music Festival

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) will mark Tourism Workers Day 2026 through a nationwide Water Music Festival scheduled to take place from April 30 to May 2, aimed at celebrating industry players while boosting visitor arrivals.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the festival, inspired by nature and rainforest themes, will combine live music performances, interactive art installations and a range of engaging activities at selected destinations across the country.

He said the event aligns with Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2026 and Labour Day celebrations, while also serving as a platform to recognise the contributions of individuals working in the tourism sector.

“The Water Music Festival not only honours the workforce behind Malaysia’s tourism industry but also offers both locals and international travellers an opportunity to experience the country’s natural beauty through immersive and enjoyable activities,” he said.

Tiong delivered the remarks during the ‘Dynamic Youth: Aviation Night’ dinner organised by the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Movement in Tanjong Batu recently.

The Bintulu Member of Parliament, who is also PDP president, called for strong collaboration among youth organisations, local communities and private sector players to ensure the success of the festival and help achieve the targets set under VMY 2026.

He emphasised that youth participation is crucial as they represent not only the backbone of the tourism workforce but also a source of innovation and creativity needed to attract a broader range of visitors to Malaysia.
