Marriott Bonvoy expands presence with addition of citizenM Kuala Lumpur

Marriott Bonvoy has announced that citizenM Kuala Lumpur Bukit Bintang has been officially integrated into its global portfolio, marking the first citizenM property in the Asia Pacific region, excluding China, to join the loyalty programme following Marriott International’s acquisition of the lifestyle hotel brand earlier this year.

Situated in the heart of the Bukit Bintang commercial and entertainment district, the hotel offers travellers convenient access to Kuala Lumpur’s renowned street food, nightlife and retail attractions.

The 210-room property features citizenM’s signature approach to smart, design-forward hospitality, blending contemporary aesthetics with technology-driven convenience.

Marriott International Regional Vice-President for Malaysia and Indonesia, Ramesh Jackson, said the inclusion of citizenM Kuala Lumpur reflects the group’s continued efforts to broaden its footprint with brands that resonate strongly with modern travellers.

“citizenM embodies an innovative spirit, combining thoughtful design with intuitive technology. We are delighted to welcome the Kuala Lumpur property into the Marriott Bonvoy family,” he said in a statement today.

The hotel’s rooms are equipped with XL king-size beds, wall-to-wall windows and rain showers, while guests may customise in-room ambience through MoodPad tablets.

Its canteenM, a 24-hour bar and kitchen, offers meals and refreshments throughout the day, complementing a lobby designed as a living room furnished with Vitra pieces, curated art and co-working spaces. Three SocietyM meeting rooms, including a theatre-style venue for up to 40 participants, cater to business and creative gatherings.

With its entry into Marriott Bonvoy, members may now earn and redeem points at the property, enjoy exclusive rates and access mobile services via Marriott’s digital platforms. The move also connects guests to a network of over 30 Marriott brands across more than 10,000 destinations worldwide.

citizenM, established in 2008, has built a reputation for its select-service concept featuring technology-enabled stays and contemporary design. The brand currently operates 37 hotels worldwide. Marriott confirmed that additional citizenM properties are expected to join the loyalty programme by end-2025.

Hotel Manager Duncan Hong said the partnership strengthens the brand’s appeal without altering its unique identity. “We’re keeping everything guests love about citizenM, while adding the strength of Marriott Bonvoy. It’s a win-win for travellers,” he added.
