CHEF AMMAR AL ALI Serving the Best Arabic Rice in Malaysia since 1984

Chef Ammar Al Ali was born and raised in Palestine and is a Malaysian at heart. He is well-known in Malaysia for his strong influence on Mediterranean cuisine. He first came to Malaysia in 1989 and began his education journey at Kolej University Taylor and Stanford College, Penang, earning a double diploma in Hospitality & Food Production and Kitchen Planning.

Chef Ammar kicked off his career at Universal Enterprise Maldives as a head chef from 1993 to 1996. In 1997, he joined the education field as a Food and Beverage Lecturer at Olympia College. Shortly after, he returned to Jordan and joined venture in the family business for the next 3 years. He returned to Malaysia in 2001 and spent the next five years as a Mediterranean Cuisine Specialty Chef at Shangri-La Hotels and Holiday Inn Penang.

In 2006, he joined the Regent Hotel Kuala Lumpur as a chef de cuisine. Then in 2007, the Regent Hotel was changed to the Grand Millennium Hotel and he was promoted to Executive Sous Chef. He then joined the Taj Hotel Resort and Palace Langkawi for a year after continuing in his position for two years. In 2010, he became Executive Chef and Chef Consultant at Zouk Café, The Gardens. The very last hotel he worked at was One World Hotel in 2011 as an executive chef.

After gaining over 18 years of experience in the hotel and F&B industries, he decided it’s time to settle down and do what he does best. Not long after, he was presented with the opportunity to start his very own cooking show for the Ramadan season with well-known TV stations such as TV Al Hijrah and Astro.

He introduces Malaysians to the beautiful ways and delicacies of Mediterranean food that can be easily prepared at home. He also participated in several talk shows, events and many more. During that time, he produced a cooking book and sold every copy. He also held several cooking classes in his own studio kitchen.

After getting a huge response from fans all over Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, He came up with the idea of processing his own range of spices for the commercial market. In December 2017, Chef Ammar opened his first café, Chef Ammar Xpress Souk in USJ 4, Subang Jaya. A year later, he launched Restoran Chef Ammar, which is also located in USJ 4, Subang Jaya. Becoming a viral sensation and being crowned as the King of Lamb Shank. Fans from all over Malaysia are coming over to try Chef Ammar’s menu.

“Our restaurant is proud to offer authentic cuisine from the Arabic-speaking world. Our menu features a variety of delicious dishes made with fresh ingredients and traditional spices, including kebabs, falafel, shawarma, hummus and more. We also offer a selection of breads and pastries, such as pita, naan and baklava,” says Chef Ammar.
