Thailand is constantly being praised for its rich and flavourful dishes. Chiang Mai is definitely included and is often labelled as a food paradise by foodies. When you wander around this laid-back and ancient city to look for legendary street food, these top three options might catch your attention:

 

Banana Fritters

Thai Banana Fritters are usually enriched with toasted sesame seeds and shredded coconut. It’s an awesome snack to enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea on a daily basis. The Chiang Mai version is a bit different because they are made out of sticky rice and bird’s nest. This mixture gives it an interesting chewy texture and flavour. Sticky Rice
There are different types of sticky or glutinous rice in Thailand. Some versions are mixed with fruit, while other versions are mixed with rice, beans or even egg custard. Coconut Rice Pudding

This creamy Coconut Rice Pudding is the ultimate comfort food. It is made from sweetened rice starch with a spoonful of coconut cream on top. The bottom part is usually made from sweetened rice pudding, pandan (screwpine) leaves and fruit, either from young coconut flesh or lychee. When you see it being sold in Chiang Mai, don’t hesitate to buy more than one because after tasting one Coconut Rice Pudding, chances are, you’ll want to eat more!
